Amateur Radio PSK-31 (Receiving) Demonstration Presented by KI7F in Denver, Colorado Tube. Duration : 10.45 Mins.

I downloaded this ham radio related software program called trueTTY which offers several amateur radio digital modes including RTTY, Packet Radio and other modes including PSK-31 using Phase Shaft Keying with a baud rate of 31.25 and the transmitted band width is only 31 Hertz on HF. The audio from the receiver is fed into the computer sound card via mic or line input. (No TNC or Modem required.) PSK-31 works very well in crowded band conditions and works quite well, even at lower RF output power levels (50 watts or less depending on band conditions) and even simple dipole antennas work quite well. I live in an apartment and cannot install outdoor antennas, so, I am confined in using indoor wire receiving antennas to listen to the amateur radio HF bands. I currently do not have HF transmit capability for equipment except a Grundig Satellit 800 communication receiver (Same circuit design as the older discontinued RL Drake SW8 General coverage receiver, but, repackaged as a Grundig receiver.) and I currently use an indoor 16 foot long wire antenna inside my apartment connected to the Grundig radio. I do operate 2 meter FM locally using Denver repeater systems as well as simplex operation and some 2 meter packet radio using an indoor 1/2 wave J antenna built from 300 ohm flat Twin lead cable. UPDATED INFO AS OF JULY, 2011: I AM NOW ON THE AIR USING PSK-31 AS WELL AS OTHER MODES SUCH AS SSB VOICE, CW, ETC. USING A YAESU FT-950 HF TRANSCEIVER. THE DIGITAL AUDIO INTERFACE THAT ...
