MOA staff worked with Immersive Studios of Boulder, CO and arranged an original score. Musicians were shown a color and they responded spontaneously with their instruments. There are also projections of the Cosmos from the Hubble Telescope. This is a great place to come and relax and chill out in! On display until 9/18/09 at MOA. Color of Sound, is the premiere presentation of the Museums new sound gallery. An immersion into the synthesis of color and sound; a unique light program that utilizes LED powered floodlights blended with an original mix of melodies specifically created in response to each color and gradation within a circular enclosure. In tandem with the light show, an original score was developed by Mike Yach, Gus Skinas, and Matthew Stafford at Immersive Studios in Boulder, Colorado. The invited musicians intuitively responded to the color and its gradations, inventing the music as it came to them. Using exotic instruments such as a didgeridoo, zither and an ocarina, each musician offered a unique one-of-a-kind contribution to this distinctive musical score. As you immerse yourself through this music and color interpretation, one question you may ask yourself is does this sound feel like green, lavender, yellow or red? As you enter this acoustical environment, sound is the elemental backdrop of the whole experience.
