The Fluance FiSSDK500 is a iPod dock for the listener who is concerned with both sound quality and overall look of the unit. I am happy to say that the Fluance speaker accomplishes both tasks with ease. The Fluance FiSDK500 offers dual 5" Rubber Butyl speakers that provide smooth sound across the entire frequency range. While some of the other brands have a little more market recognition, few if any offer the combination of sound quality, looks, and value quite like the Fluance. - My very first impression was very negative. However, after I let it "break-in" for an afternoon, I became impressed by its performance. I have never seen a speaker which had its performance so effected by a break-in period. The manufacture recommends breaking in the speaker for period of 10 hours while playing at a medium volume. I highly recommend that you do this otherwise you will not be maximizing your speaker's performance. - The speaker is larger than I expected - it weighs a little over 15 pounds. Also, the speaker is not really portable due to the size and its inability to accept batteries. -The volume indicator can not be turned off nor can it be dimmed. - The integrated amplifier offers 20 watts RMS of power. - The speaker comes with a real thin plastic coating that helps protect the surface. It should be removed so that you can enjoy the speaker's glossy finish. - The Fluance FiSDK500 comes with RCA and S-Video inputs, and an adapter that allows an headphone input to plug into RCAs ...
