'BELOVED' is an astonishing combination of MUGHAL INDIA against a BACKDROP of CITY URBAN UTILITY AMERICA...It is a cleverly thought out piece of VISUAL MOSAIC piecing together a TRADITIONAL PALACE or RURAL INDIAN FILM SONG in FULL MODERNISED COSTUME but the 'PALACES' are HIGH RISE BUILDINGS; The 'RIVERS' are CITY WATER FOUNTAINS; The 'WATERFALL' is a WATER FEATURE ON CONCRETE SKYSCRAPER; The 'ARCHES' are BUILDING ENTRANCES...This PICTURISATION is so cleverly thought out and works so well... URBAN vs. HUMAN - FRENCH DIRECTOR JACQUES TATI'S 'PLAYTIME' This URBAN and HUMAN was presented in 'PLAYTIME' in 1967. 'PLAYTIME' is an outlandish FRENCH film with a plot of MODERNISTIC BUILDINGS and SYSTEMS that are SABOTAGED into CHAOS by the HUMANS who rebel against THE SYSTEM. Tati said of 'PLAYTIME', "THE CURVE OVERCOMES THE STRAIGHT LINE", meaning that THE STRAIGHT LINE [of the modern buildings] represents CONTROL and the THE CURVE represents THE HUMAN and MOTHER NATURE fighting against the CONTROL.
