Huntingburg, Indiana: Tornado Siren System Recording Video Clips. Duration : 3.37 Mins.

*Originally recorded June 1ST, 2012 This is a monthly test of all emergency siren systems in Dubois County, Indiana. Tests are usually conducted the first day of each month at 4:00 EST (3:00 CST), weather permitting. With the exclusion of Jasper and and the rest of Dubois County, sirens in Huntingburg are on a different system. The newer sirens have two-way radio controls and the older ones are activated via telephone relay. Although the older sirens have been "replaced", they are still used for backup purposes in case the newer system fails. If you listen carefully you can hear four sirens. The first siren to activate was the 2001-SRN located near the railroad. You can also faintly hear the 2001-SRN located near OFS Furniture. The next few sirens you hear activate next are the sirens on the old telephone relay system. The STH-10A comes in very clear in this recording. The Model 7 located by the utilities office can also be heard but faintly. A big thanks goes to my mom who filmed this while I was out recording a siren in Ireland. People actually thought there was a tornado warning due to the gusty winds and overcast skies that occurred that day.
