In this video you can hear the Prides Creek Lake 16V1T-B that is located on the campgrounds. Currently this siren is sick and has a dead cell. At first I did not know that there was a siren at Prides Creek and I originally thought it was the siren at Pike Central High School. But then I realized that it would be too far to be heard so I went later that day and searched for it. You can also faintly hear the 16V1T-B at the Pike County Power Generating Plant. The siren in Prides Creek is a little less than a mile away. This is a weekly test of the Weather Siren System in Orange County, Indiana. Tests are usually conducted on most Fridays at 12 Noon EST (11:00 CST), weather permitting. The sirens are normally sounded for a full, three minute alert or attack cycle depending on how the siren(s) was set up. Orange County's sirens are operated by the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. This particular siren is located on SW 3RD St. & W Water St. nearby the park. There is also another Whelen Hornet located by the Paoli Community Hospital which I have recorded before on my old camera. There is even the possibility of there being a third siren East of town because when I recorded this I could faintly hear something coming from that direction. However it could have also been an echo. The installation seems fairly new and is an indirect replacement to an older siren(s) possibly once located downtown. It is unknown what the older siren may be but recently I have found an old Sterling K siren (not active) located in West Baden (next to a Hornet) which is also in Orange County. It is possible that Paoli may have had an old Sterling as well. I recorded this Hornet because I didn't feel like recording yet another Tempest siren. This siren tested about five minutes late. I was starting to think the dispatchers were either too busy or forgot about the test and were not going to sound them. Because of this, I was extremely surprised to hear this siren go off. *Originally Recorded 6/22/2012 This is a weekly test of the Weather Warning Siren System in Gibson County, Indiana. Sirens in Gibson County normally test at 12 Noon CST (1:00 EST) and sound a full, three minute alert cycle during tests and severe weather. Gibson County, Indiana, consists of mostly ASC sirens and a few older Federal Signal sirens that may or may not be active. The sirens only test when there is no hazardous weather imminent in the area. This siren is located on W Main St. & N 4TH St. in Francisco, Indiana. Francisco is a small town located in Gibson County along SR 64. It is between Oakland City and Princeton, Indiana. You may or may not remember that I have recorded this siren before. Just like the last time, the siren appears to run on batteries during the test. My dad recorded this siren the first time and I drove here and recorded this siren for the second time. I did this primarily to compare my old camcorder to my new one. If you haven't noticed I recorded it in the same location as the first recording. It was the first time I've heard a T-121 in person. *Originally recorded June 1ST, 2012 This is a monthly test of all emergency siren systems in Dubois County, Indiana. Tests are usually conducted the first day of each month at 4:00 EST (3:00 CST), weather permitting. With the exclusion of Jasper and and the rest of Dubois County, sirens in Huntingburg are on a different system. The newer sirens have two-way radio controls and the older ones are activated via telephone relay. Although the older sirens have been "replaced", they are still used for backup purposes in case the newer system fails. If you listen carefully you can hear four sirens. The first siren to activate was the 2001-SRN located near the railroad. You can also faintly hear the 2001-SRN located near OFS Furniture. The next few sirens you hear activate next are the sirens on the old telephone relay system. The STH-10A comes in very clear in this recording. The Model 7 located by the utilities office can also be heard but faintly. A big thanks goes to my mom who filmed this while I was out recording a siren in Ireland. People actually thought there was a tornado warning due to the gusty winds and overcast skies that occurred that day. This is a weekly test of the City of Bedford's Weather Warning Siren System. They test every Friday at Noon, but I am unaware how detailed the procedure is. I have watched a video where their Whelens did Attack/Wail for a tornado warning but, I didn't hear voice...maybe its the dispatcher's mood that determines whether or not it does voice or sounds wail, even during tests. I'm sure they use voice for something, otherwise, why buy 4004s to begin with? According to an article I found (by chance too) there are 10 WPS-4004s in the system, I only found six so far (visually confirmed 5). I also found a 16/16 port Sterling and a Vortex in Mitchell and a Model 5(B?)T in the middle of nowhere. It doesn't even looked like it is hooked up...or if it is I don't know why they would put one there. This 4004 is located on 16TH ST and N St. by a convenience store. I parked in busy parking lot while it was raining. Luckily, it wasn't raining as bad as the 2001-DC recording I did awhile back but it was a much cooler rain that would soak my camera. So what I did was hold a small red umbrella above it. I did nothing whatsoever. I looked in the trunk of the car and randomly found a large, rainbow colored beach umbrella. Embarrassing as it was, I used that to record the siren. After the recording I drove around places where I thought I heard a siren sound after this 4004 shut off. This is a special test of all emergency equipment in the state of Indiana. Sirens in many places in Indiana were activated between 10:00-10:30 EST and again at 7:30-8:00 EST. Otherwise, sirens in Pike County are usually tested the first Friday of the month at around 12 Noon EST and (much like this video) test in a full three minute attack cycle unlike Petersburg's Whelen system. This recording documents the 7:45PM activation. This Sentry 16V1T-B is located on N. Spring St. at the Jefferson Township Fire Department. It is very new and was installed just last summer in late July through August. Pike county recently received a grant which allowed them to purchase and install weather sirens in smaller communities such as Otwell. This is the first time I heard this type of siren up close, and I have to say it was not very loud unlike I was expecting it to be. However, it has a very unique sound which reminds me of an Hornman electronic siren in European countries. In case no one knows why the siren sounds like it is pulsating is because 16V1T-Bs (They also make 16V2T-Bs) have two, 8 horsepower motors that spin the choppers unlike one motor. Occasionally, one motor will spin a bit faster than the other creating a pulsating effect. This is a test of the Knox County Outdoor Siren System. Sirens are normally tested on Saturdays between 11:00-12:00 EST if the weather cooperates. Today the sirens were set to sound at 11:30. This particular siren is located on top of Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary School. A big thanks goes to the Knox Co. EMA director whom I asked If he could set them off today. Personally, this was the first time I have ever heard a 2T22 in person, yet alone a single phase 2T22. It sounded very musical and even was loud enough to vibrate the ground for a FULL three minute blast. Most of Vincennes older sirens are either mounted on a very low roof or pole. They are not the most common type of siren to find in Southern Indiana which contains mostly newer Federal Signal and Sentry sirens. I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to make it to the test today. We drove very fast to be able to make it. Once I got out of the car I could hear a nearby Sentry 3V8 for a few seconds before winding down. I thought I already missed the test. This is a weekly test of Lawrence County's Weather Siren System which apparently tests at 12:30 every Friday. It's strange because Bedford, which is also in the same county, test their 4004s EXACTLY at Noon (or at least the last time I was there they did) and the other part of the county tests thirty minutes later. This siren is on top of Mitchell's municipal building and when I went inside to tell them what my intentions were they kindly said that they test at 12:30 when I was rushing like hell to get there at 12 Noon. If I knew that they tested later I could have recorded another 4004 in Bedford AND this siren. Oh well, we all know what Whelens sound like...not like I missed much, I guess. Mitchell also has a Whelen Vortex in the north side of town, they may have another siren but I doubt it. This Sterling is mounted similar to Troy's Model 5, with the short pole mounted on the roof to achieve better height. Surprisingly, it wasn't that loud nor is the pitch real high, at least for a 16/16 Sterling. But as I always say, it was a cool experience. I wasn't expecting fast wail either and when I walked to the other side of the building, the reverb was unbelievable. You could also faintly hear the nearby Vortex. This is a test of the Knox County Outdoor Siren System. Sirens are normally tested on Saturdays between 11:00-12:00 EST weather permitting. Today the sirens were set to sound around 11:35. The sirens will only be sounded during mostly clear days. They will not be sounded during overcast skies. Once again, a big thanks goes to the Knox Co. EMA director whom I asked If he could set them off today. This particular siren is located at the Fire Department which is located near S Niblack Rd & N Railroad St. Knox County has several 3V8s and 3V8-Hs located throughout parts of Knox County. They also sound as if they are single phase which leads me to conclude that ALL of Knox County's sirens are single phase much like nearby Warrick County which has ONLY single phase sirens. This is my first time recording and hearing a 3V8 up-close. The first time I heard a 3V8 was back in February before a 2T22-B kicked-in at Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary. It then came to my realization that the sound on the small sirens are very capable of traveling very far. Knox Co. (*Originally recorded on September 2nd) This is a monthly test of the Monroe County (Indiana) Outdoor Warning System. This particular siren is located just south of Bloomington, Indiana on East Pointe Rd. and Morrison Ct. Although I like modulators I was disappointed since this siren did not sound for a long time as opposed to the background 2001s. This mod also seems to constantly have radio problems since many people who work at the golf course (which is by this siren) said a lot of times this siren fails to sound for its test. Another odd thing that happens is how the mod switches from an alert tone to a short wail tone. The wail tone also sounds a bit faster than most wail tones on modulators such as the DSA in Jasper. My parents also recorded this siren on that day since I was in school.

This is a monthly test of the Dubois County Emergency Siren System. Tests are usually conducted the first day of each month at 4:00 EST, weather permitting. The background sirens (Model 7 & STH-10s) preform two minutes of attack while this siren and other 2001s in Huntingburg manage to stay on for another minute while sounding a steady, alert signal. This particular siren is located on N. Geiger St. There are also several older, Federal Signal sirens in the proximity that can also be heard. Although the 2001 sirens have replaced the older sirens, the older sirens are to be continually used as a backup in case the 2001 system fails. I would recommend using headphones to listen for the background sirens. This is one of several 2001 sirens in Dubois County which consists of mostly 2001-SRNs. However, this -SRN is very unusually high pitched. I am not sure why the pitch is so high but I do know all of Huntingburg's 2001-SRNs sound like this. Also if you go to 2:17 you can see that the rotator starts to "hang-up" and the siren sits still for a second.
