The Pennsylvania DCED provided 200 in First Industries Agricultural Planning Grant funds to the Pennsylvania Environmental Council to be used to conduct a marketing and feasibility study necessary to create a sustainable regional producer-market food system that is ecologically sound and economically viable. The project will be accomplished through development of a viable, sustainable produce market at the Meadville Market House, the oldest continually operating market house in Pennsylvania. The project will result in a sustainable venue for local agricultural produce and will continue the economic revitalization of downtown Meadville. The grant period for the study to be conducted was July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2008. More info/hours on the market at this site: www.farmersmarketalliance.com
