The Kinivo ZX 100 is an ultra-portable speaker that provides surprising sound from a small package. The speaker plays in mono (it only has one driver), but it is perfect for supplying music into small space - it is very suitable for your desk or other small areas. However, what I like about the ZX 100 is that it is absolutely perfect for travel - it will fit into the side-pocket of your backpack or even into the pocket of your jeans. One thing to consider is if you need a bluetooth option - the BTX 110 is essentially the same speaker but it offers bluetooth connectivity and doubles as a speakerphone. A few other positives- - Much better sound than I expected - While it does not offer too much bass it does have a clear frequency response across the range. - Great portability - Easy to use - Rechargeable - depending on the volume you can get several hours of play time - it definitely sounds better the speakers on the iPod or iPad Areas for improvement - I am not a fan of the blue light that can not be disabled - I would prefer if the cord was retractable and a bit longer Final Verdict - A nice speaker and at a nice value - Definitely recommended for anyone that needs a highly portable speaker for your iPod or iPad. The Kinivo BTX 110 is a very small rechargeable bluetooth speaker. It is a great accessory for anyone who is looking for a small speaker to fit in a backpack or in an inconspicuous corner of their desk. The Kinivo combines convenience in a package that is about the size of a deck of cards. I have used the BTX 110 with an Ipad 2, iPod 3g, and an iPhone 4G and it it delivers sound and performance that is noticeably superior to the built in device speaker (even on the iPad 2). Set-up- You may want to see the video, but the set-up is rather easy. In fact, it is identical to every other Bluetooth device on the market. First hold the power "on" the BTX 110 for about 5 seconds (until the blue light flashes), Then go to your settings, locate "Bluetooth" and search for devices, once the BTX 110 is recognized (Which may take up to 30 seconds) enter the Pin ( 0000 ) (four 0's) and you will be ready to go. Operation - It seems that there is some confusion on how to adjust the volume. The manufacturer states that the speaker begins each use at the 50% volume setting. What I do is I hold down the volume "+" until I reach the maximum sounds, and then I adjust the volume down on my iPod/iPad/iPhone. Calling - The BTX 110 has a built in microphone for use with a phone. The fidelity/clarity is adequate but it is similar to using a bluetooth in a car Other notes - Sound quality is better than expected. The Kinivo ZX 220 is perfect for people who want to listen to music on the go, but don't necessarily need bluetooth capability. In fact, there are times when bluetooth is less convenient than a standard auxiliary input (like on a computer). The lack of bluetooth capability also helps to lower the price point and increase a speaker's battery life.- Notes on the Kinivo ZX 220- Sound Performance: Very good. These speakers are clean and crisp throughout the listening range. Low end bass performance is missing, but that is what you would expect from speakers in this size range. As a whole they sound very nice. Sound Volume: Significantly louder than the native speaker on the iPad. Make sure to take note of the inline volume control (it is easy to miss at first). Stereo Capability: One of the few speakers in this class that are in stereo Battery Life: 4 to 5 hours although playing the speakers at full volume may cause that to go down. Cord Length: About 30" - ideally the cord would be a little longer. Carrying Case: Does come with a small cloth carrying case. Misc: I am not a big fan of the blue lights that can not be disabled. I often use my speakers at night, so a blue light can be distracting. Final Verdict - I am a fan of the Kinivo ZX 220 - they have a nice sound, are portable, and are very easy to use.
